2009 Partnership Highlights
Integrating climate change science in the forest planning process
A direct partnership between the Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center and the National Forest System’s Southern Region (Region 8) will result in a Template for Assessing Climate Change Impacts and Management Options (TACCIMO), a tool designed to assist land managers with integrating climate change science in the forest planning process. The partners have contributed to all aspects of project development including conceptual design, development reviews, and connecting project products to other parallel efforts. Involving the TACCIMO customers directly in product development will enhance the overall usefulness of the final product and allow the customer to become vested early in the project process. In addition to the immediate benefits rendered by the partnership, important channels of communication have been established that will likely facilitate future collaboration.
