Biography of Emrys Treasure

Emrys TreasureEmrys Treasure joined the SGCP team formally in August 2008, but spent three years as a student intern working part time during the school year and full time during the summer field season. Projects that Emrys is associated with at the SGCP include carbon budgets in loblolly pine plantations (eddy flux), evaluating the effectiveness of streamside management zones in protecting water quality, the effects of prescribed fire on fuel loads, and the impacts of climate change and land use on water quality. Emrys graduated Valedictorian of his 2008 North Carolina State University class with a B.S. in natural resources and a minor in environmental science. The cutting edge and relevant forest science practiced by the SGCP and EFETAC team attracted Emrys to the opportunity and he hopes to contribute and learn as much as possible from the experience during his term. Emrys enjoys photography as a hobby and was recently recognized with a 3rd place in the scenic category of the 2007 Southern Research Station photography contest.
